Use:

It can be used as a bactericide for water-based oil well fracturing fluid and a crosslinking agent for cellulose. In the textile printing and dyeing industry, it is used as an anti-shrinkage and anti-wrinkle finishing agent for fabrics.
In the leather industry, the primer of glyoxal and isobutanal semicarbazone can be used as a tanning agent for cow skin. In the pharmaceutical industry, glyoxal is condensation with amine to form 2 monohydroxypyrazine, which is used as raw material for sulfonamides and insecticides.
In coatings and adhesives, cross-linking with polymers improves the water resistance of copolymers. Acrylylenal copolymer is crosslinked with glyoxal and can be used to make fiberglass board.
